Euro 2008 : Spain is Euro Champion

Euro 2008 Soccer championship found its champion, Spain is Euro 2008 champion. Spain defeated Germany by 1-0 in Finals in Vienna in Austria. In front of Germany, Spain was never considered to be a Strong contender. From Sport critics to blog sites everybody was supporting Germany, but Spain kept their cool and won the championship. When they won the Euro 2008 championship, they also broke the their long lasting decade drought of victory. The last time they won a major championship was four decades ago, i.e. 1964, when they beat Russia erstwhile USSR.
The Euro championship really boost the Spain confidence, which really would help them in future FIFA qualifying matches.

Euro 2008: Germany Vs Spain in Final

The D-Day of Euro 2008 championship is arrived. Today, two football stalwarts countries Germany and Spain will clash with each other infront of more than 50K strong spectators in Austrian Capital Vienna. Both the team have superb tournment, while Germany faced some intial hiccups but as the game progress they tumbled all their opponents. While for Spain it seems to be dream tournament, till date they are able to maintain their winning streak against all their opponents. For Spain this a moment to relish, as it was four decades ago, when they won a major tounament.

I read couple of blogs, and most of them are predicting and favoring Germany to win, but if somebody ask my view, I will bet for Spain. Let's wait for couple of hours, where both team clash with each other to become a Euro Champion.

Euro 2008 : Spain in Euro Final

The second Euro semifinal belongs only to one team, Spain. Spain entered in Euro Final after they defeated Russia in semi final. This is Spain second victory over Russia. When Russia defeated Netherlands in quarterfinals, they seems to be a strong contender for the Cup. But somehow Spain trounced the dreams of Russia, after they defeat them in the Semi finals at Vienna by 3-0.

Waiting to see a tough battle between, Spain and Germany in the Euro 2008 final in Vienna.

Euro 2008 Germany trounce Turkey

Germany defeated Turkey in the first semi finals of Euro 2008. But the win of Germany over Turkey did not come easy, just like Turkey previous two games, they also stunned Germany when they leveled 2-2. But in the end Germany showed their class and defeat Turkey 3-2. But in the end it was a milestone tournament for Turkey.

Euro 2008 : Spain Vs Italy

FIFA 2006 , World Champions Italy will clash with Spain in the quarter final of Euro 2008 in Vienna. Till now in the tournament Italy did not play as a World Champions, they could somehow only survive in their league matches. While on the other hand Spain was on top in their league matches, defeated all their opponents in every match. But Italy has a reputation of slow starters, they start slow and the tournament proceeds they really show their true color. I hope Italy keep up with their reputation and will give a stiff competition to their opponent.

Euro 2008 : Russia in Semis

Euro 2008 is certainly turning out to be tournament of uncertainties, first it was Turkey now it is Russia. Today, Russia beat Netherlands in quarterfinals and will face Italy/Spain in Semi-finals.
Russia really did a great comeback after their league defeat from Spain. After that they really showed that they are a team which can be neglected, they really played very well. Even today Netherlands was not able to break their defense, and could not stop Russia strike. But overall the game was very good. Waiting to see some good football in remaining matches.

Euro 2008 Netherlands Vs Russia

Euro 2008 favorites Netherlands will meet Russia in the third quarterfinal at St. Jakob Park Basel. Netherlands played superbly in this tournament, conceiving 9 goals and getting only 1 one. While on the other hand, Russians survived their league matches, and somehow made it to the quarters. But soccer is a game of uncertainties, you never know how an underdog perform at the D - Day, and make that day their day. So whatever be the result the game will be good and will be played in right spirit by both nations.

Euro 2008 : Turkey in Semis

June 20th, Turkey created history, they defeated Croatia in the second quarterfinals of Euro 2008. After defeating Croatia they make sure that they will meet Germany in Semis final which will be played in Basel.

The game between Turkey and Croatia was full of action, there was no results of the match in the stipulated match time, the game moved to extra time and then to penalities, where Turkey defeated Croatia by 3-1.

The best part of the game was the extra time, the Croatia first scored the goal against Turkey and when they were just short of the victory, the Turkey struck their cord and scored a goal against Croatia, thus moved the game to penalties.

As far as overall game is concerned , I personally think Croatia played very well in the quarters against Trukey, but somehow they were little unlucky that they didn't win their game.

Euro 2008 ; Greece failed to defend their title

When Greece entered in Euro 2008, they were last Euro 2004 champions, they were there in Austria-Switzerland to defend their title. But their performance in Euro 2008 was really disappointing. They lost all their league matches first against, Sweden then Russia and then with Spain second team .

So the question arises was their last victory a fluke ? May or may not be, but the end result is Greece Failed to defend their title.

Euro 2008 : Italians survived Group of Death

Today, World Champions Italy faced their World Cup opponents France in their final league match of Euro 2008. For both the teams , it is a must win situation in order to qualify for the quarterfinals. Till now the performance of both the team was average, they did not play to their full potential in either of their previous matches. But today Italians keep up with their reputation by beating France 2-0 in their final league matches. I think the full survival credit goes to Italy Goalkeeper Buffoon, If he wouldn't had saved the penalty from Romania, Italy would have been flying to their country now. Let's hope Italy will keep up with the expectation of their fans in their coming quarterfinals and will play like a World Champions.

Swiss Farewell on Success Note..

Though Euro 2008 host Switzerland had a poor show during the last two matches, but they really showed their class when they beat Group and Euro fav. Portugal 2-0. In their last two matches, I will say they were liitle unlucky also, as in their first match , they played well, but somehow Czech were little bit more lucky, when they won the match by 1-0. During that match they even lost their Captain and Key player Alex Frei. In second match they encountered Turkey, last min. goal from the Turkey stiker, lost their chances of qualifying for the quarter. Over there also they were little unlucky. But the win over Portugal, in their final match may give some solace to team and its supporters.

Finally, "Hopp Schweiz" for 2010 World Cup.

Invincible's Dutch

Invincible's Dutch, the phrase matches with the Euro 2008 Netherlands team. In their two league matches they simply outclassed their opponents. In first match they defeated World Champions Italy, and today they defeated one more Group Fav. France with score of 4-1. The way Netherland attack and defend is really commendable. Besides, the way they are playing in my opinion make them the strong contender for the title.

Fist exchanges between German and Croatian Fans at Fan Arena in Zurich

Day 6th of Euro 2008 Cup, one of the favourites of Group B*Germany(Deutschland)* was beaten by one of the Group minnows
Croatia. After beating Germany, Croatia became a Group B Quarter
final qualifier team.
Though Germans defeated on field by Croatian, but somehow Germans fan could not handle the defeat of their team, which led to Fist exchange between the fans of the two team in Fan Fare Arena at Belluve in Zurich, Switzerland.
